Found Flower
[A repost of an early PrayerNote while I’m on vacation.
This PrayerNote first posted September 14, 2023]
I’m drawn to what comes up in the margins. This snapdragon found its purchase in a crack in the cement paver right below our front porch. There is a grace to it growing in such an unlikely spot. How the seed came to that crack is certainly a mystery in itself, especially considering we don’t have any other snapdragons that look like this one anywhere on the Homestead. No one planted it. No one has watered it or tended it in any way other than my choice to let it to grow when I first noticed it taking root while weeding in the flower garden. Now it is blooming beautifully right where it is. Everyone who comes to the Homestead steps over it to arrive at our door. Every time I step over it, I try to witness the miracle of it and acknowledge its presence at the threshold of our home. Its life gives me joy and it stirs in me hope for all the ways life springs forth unexpected and untended.
God give me eyes to see what is here.
May all that is unbidden invite me forward.
May the gifts I find root my living deeper.
Tend in me, O God, my own blooming.
Free me in my offer of myself, right here,
On the threshold of the living world.
Love and Peace, Glenn

It shows (to me) that we can all Grow, no matter where or how we are planted. Thank you for the reminder :-)
