A Change of Perspective
I’ve shot so many photos of 151, from every conceivable angle, but I haven’t looked at the house from where I stood the other day.
Theresa and I were on the return leg of our morning walk. The day was glorious and as we approached the house, I found myself drawn to the grove of quaking aspen across the road from the house. They were backlit in the morning light and alive in the breeze. The aspen trees are part of a conservation planting done over ten years ago. The goal was to create a better habitat for woodcock and other beings living close to the earth. It has been successful. I hear woodcocks peenting from the grove every spring.
Theresa headed back to her morning appointment while I stepped off the road and entered the grove.
The sunlight was dancing upon the emerging leaves the color of spring, creating a scene full of presence and promise. I shot for a time with a focus on the trees, then turned back toward the road to head out.
It was then that I saw the house glowing in the sun through the trees. I stayed a while longer with this new way of looking upon what has been created across the road from the grove. I was seeing what the trees held every day. I looked up with gratitude. I looked out with a new perspective.
Walk among trees. Look up. Look out. Imagine yourself rooted here For a long time. Every day you are here. Every day you root deeper. Every day you reach higher. May all you see Ground you in the light. May you stand in gratitude. May you live in your place A long time. Love and Peace, Glenn
